Embassy of Italy in New Delhi

Embassy Italy2

We all would like to express our gratitude to the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi who first gave its fundamental support in developing the contacts between NEERI and CNR in 2010, at the time of an early workshop which was also co-sponsored by the embassy itself, and also successively supported the organization of a second workshop in 2013 along with the signature of the MoU.
We are particularly grateful to the Italian ambassador in India, Honorable Daniele Mancini, who enthusiastically gave us the opportunity to start up a new era of scientific collaboration in the field of environmental sustainability between India and Italy. Our immense gratitude also goes to Prof. Lidia Szpyrkowicz (in the photo on the side while opening the workshop hold in Nagpur in 2013) who constantly stimulated the scientific relationships between the Indian and the Italian group, encouraged us to hold the workshop, was prolific of valuable ideas and finally, with her presence at both the workshops, gave a national relevance to these events.

Giovanni Maria Zuppi

ZuppiA warm and delicate thank goes to the memory of Giovanni Maria Zuppi, professor of hydrogeology at the "Ca Foscari" University of Venice and director of the CNR - IGAG Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering. Giovanni Maria was an incurable enthusiastic an extraordinary scientist and, for many of us, a dear and respected friend.
Our research group, the MoU and this web-site would not exist without his initial encouragement and his authoritative support.
Giovanni Maria unexpectedly passed away in May 2011.
We wish to remember him with gratefulness.
The picture here on the side was taken in India, in 2010: he was tired but happy to be there. He was excited to the idea to start up new projects and to develope new collaborations with new and old colleagues.

Ciao GM da tutti noi.
